The Town of Cobourg charges for both water and wastewater services. These charges are billed by Lakefront Utility Services Inc. (LUSI), on behalf of the Town of Cobourg, and appear on your utility bill.
Cobourg's water and wastewater rates cover the costs to:
- deliver safe, clean water to homes and businesses
- collect wastewater for treatment
- develop leak-detection, inflow and infiltration programs
- manage infrastructure
- provide customer support to residents
The Town of Cobourg and LUSI retained the Watson & Associates Economists Ltd. (Watson) to undertake an update to the water and wastewater rate study prepared for The Town of Cobourg. Rates are based on a Water and Wastewater Financial Sustainability Study and are reviewed every five years. The current Water and Wastewater study was completed in 2020, adopted by Council on January 11, 2021 by Resolution 010 – 21 and can be found below:
