The next municipal election will be held Monday, October 24, 2022. Elections for municipal government are held every four years on the fourth Monday of October.
Anyone can vote in a municipal election who, on the day of the election, is:
Your name must be on the voters’ list in order for you to cast a ballot.
If you are an Ontario resident over the age of 18 you can confirm or update your information in a few easy steps. You can also change your school support for electoral purposes and add names to your property address.
Updating this information will help to ensure that municipal Voters’ Lists are accurate and up-to-date in preparation for municipal and school board elections occurring this October.

In the 2018 Cobourg Municipal Election, 6,480 of 14,934 eligible voters casted their ballot for Municipal Council and School Board Trustee Candidates for the 2018–2022 Council Term. A total voter turnout for the Town of Cobourg Election was 43.6 per cent.
The Town of Cobourg has offered online and telephone voting since 2006, and was one of 194 municipalities to offer online voting and telephone voting in the 2018 Municipal Elections across Ontario. The Town of Cobourg continues to make voting accessible, convenient and easy for all by offering more hours to vote this year than ever before.
