Cobourg, ON (March 14, 2025) – The Town of Cobourg, Cobourg Police Service and Cobourg Fire Department are pleased to announce that the second annual Battle of the Badges hockey game raised $9,076 to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of South-West Durham and Northumberland.
The March 1 event at the Cobourg Community Centre drew approximately 1,200 attendees as the Cobourg Fire Department and Cobourg Police Service faced off in the highly anticipated match. This year’s winner of the Chris Garrett Memorial Trophy, donated by CJ's Tap and Grill, was the Cobourg Fire Department.
Funds were raised through donations at the entrance and various locations in the arena, a raffle, cookie sales, merchandise donations, and sponsorship. The Cobourg Cougars contributed proceeds from the 50/50 draw and chuck-a-puck contest.
The Town of Cobourg extends its gratitude to the sponsors of the event—including Brock Street Brewery, Puck It, Canadian Tire, and New Amherst Homes—as well as the community members who attended and supported the cause.
