Cobourg, ON (February 28, 2025) – The Northumberland Central Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Cobourg are pleased to announce Dominique Sayers as the recipient of this year’s William Crossen Young Professional Award, proudly sponsored by the Jacqueline Pennington Real Estate Team. The award will be presented at the Business Achievement Awards on Friday, March 28, 2025, at the Best Western PLUS Cobourg Inn and Convention Centre.
The William Crossen Young Professional Award recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of business professionals 40 years of age and younger who own, operate, or manage a business in the Town of Cobourg, or the Townships of Hamilton or Alnwick/ Haldimand. The award is named after William Crossen, the eldest son of James Crossen, and eventual manager of the Crossen Car Manufacturing Company of Cobourg.
“Congratulations to Dominique! Her entrepreneurship skills and ability to adapt to changing economic times has led B&D Liquidation to reinvent itself over time,” says Business Achievement Award Co-Chair Alison Lester.
Dominique Sayers is the owner of B&D Liquidation at 20 Strathy Road in Cobourg. This company is an example of business succession planning as Dominique has taken over majority ownership of B&D Liquidation from her father Blake. B&D Liquidation originally opened in 1999 with a philosophy to offer quality, brand name merchandise at low prices and to keep a fresh experience as customers walk through the doors.
Today, B&D Liquidation stays true to the original business philosophy. Its B&D Bins venture is a unique selling strategy where product prices reduce daily, creating a dynamic shopping experience that has garnered returning customers to their Cobourg location.
“Thank you to the Northumberland Central Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Cobourg for the honour of receiving this award. I am proud to be a business owner in Cobourg and proud to be among some wonderful and hardworking young business owners,” said Sayers.
“This award is not just about myself, but I have my parents, my husband and my entire team behind me to thank, for helping me becoming the person I am today, for making me want to continuously be better, for picking me up when I stumble, for having my back and for being my family. I am only as good as my team, and I have the best standing beside me. I am looking forward to continuing to do what I love and providing the best liquidation store in Northumberland County with the best deals.”
The official presentation of the William Crossen Young Professional Award will be made at the Business Achievement Awards on Friday, March 28 at the Best Western PLUS Cobourg Inn & Convention Centre. Returning this year as Master of Ceremonies is Sherry Gibson.
