About Big Brothers Big Sisters of South-West Durham and Northumberland
For five decades, Big Brothers Sisters of South-West Durham and Northumberland has been changing lives through the power of mentorship. Our one-to-one and group programs help children build self-confidence, develop essential life skills, and forge meaningful connections within their communities.
Our mentors do more than offer guidance; they become trusted role models who inspire values like giving back, staying committed to education, and treating others with respect—from family and friends to the broader community. Every mentor-child match and every in-school program sparks something extraordinary: life-changing relationships grounded in trust, friendship, and empowerment.
Watching a child grow into a confident, caring, and driven young adult is an inspiring journey. As they step into adulthood, it’s even more rewarding to see them thrive as responsible and successful members of the community.
Join Us in Making a Difference! For 50 years, our mission has been powered by the dedication of our staff, volunteers, and donors like you. Your support enables us to continue this vital work. Together, we can help our young people reach their full potential — one child, one mentor, one relationship at a time.
