Cobourg, ON (June 28, 2022) – The Town of Cobourg is pleased to share more information on the community events and cultural programming taking place Friday July 1 to Sunday July 3 as we welcome back the Cobourg Waterfront Festival and Canada Day activities.

A celebrated community favourite for 33 years, the Cobourg Waterfront Festival is made possible thanks to the dedicated members and volunteers of the Rotary Club of Cobourg and the Cobourg Lions Club. Paired with the Town of Cobourg Canada Day parade and cultural activities in the park, this beloved event has activities for people of all ages.  

After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Experience Cobourg is thrilled to announce the lineup of activities planned for the weekend. For more on the 2022 Cobourg Waterfront Festival visit waterfrontfestival.ca.

Thursday, June 30 – Victoria Park Entertainment

*Strawberry Social: Presented bythe Lions Club of Cobourg and Northumberland United Way. Tickets are $15 in advance ($20 at the tent). The menu includes meatballs, coleslaw, macaroni salad, cold cuts, buns, strawberry dessert, coffee or tea. Strawberries are donated by Burnham Family Farm Market.

Advanced tickets may be purchased until Thursday, June 30 at 9 a.m. by calling 905-373-5942 or tickets can be purchased at the tent. Net proceeds will go the Northumberland United Way.

Friday, July 1 – Canada Day Activities and Entertainment

Inclement Weather – Fireworks

Waterfront Festival Highlights

• Breakfast in the Park, hosted by the Northumberland Central Chamber of Commerce, offering local strawberries and real Maple Syrup served with fluffy pancakes and barbequed sausages. Served from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. daily. Adults $10, children $5 (HST included). One dollar off all breakfasts served prior to 8:30 a.m. Located in the Lions Refreshment Tent by the bandshell in Victoria Park.
• Cobourg Lions Club International Marketplace with a wide selection of goodies from around the world, including exotic imports and collectables. (Friday July 1 - 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.,
  Saturday July 2 - 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday July 3 – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
• Rotary HarbourArts Show painters, sculptors, weavers, custom jewellery designers, potters, ceramists, woodcarvers, photographers, metal and stained-glass artists, clothing designers and folk artists. Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Rotary Park, entrance on Division and Albert Streets.
• Rotary Food Trucks & Craft Beer:
  • Beer Wine & Spirits entrance at Rotary Park at Division Street, operating Friday, July 1 and Saturday July 2 from 12 to 9 p.m., and Sunday, July 3, from 12 to 3 p.m.
  • Food Truck Vendors located along the south end of Division Street, near the Pier, operating on Friday, July 1 and Saturday, July 2 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday July 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Children’s Activities in the Park a variety of amusement rides will be offered on Friday, July 1 and Saturday, July 2, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday July 3 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Ride tickets will be available on-site in Victoria Park. Each ride takes an average of two or three coupons, one coupon is $2 or a sheet of 20 coupons is $35.

Road Closures

All road closures will be in effect from Friday July 1 at 8 a.m. until Monday July 4 at 8 a.m., and include:

• Albert Street from Second Street to Division Street
• Division Street South of Queen Street
• Queen Street between McGill Street and Church Street
• Charles Street from McGill to Division Street
• The Esplanade

Additional road closures for the Canada Day Parade on Friday, July 1, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. only:

• King Street west from William Street to D’Arcy Street
• William Street from University Ave. west to King Street west (float staging)
• Ontario Street from University Ave. west to William Street

Please note there is no parking overnight on King Street from Thursday, June 30 to Friday, July 1. Cars remaining on King Street along the parade route on July 1 will be ticketed and towed.  

Shuttle Information

The Town of Cobourg is offering complimentary shuttles from the Cobourg Community Centre (750 D’Arcy Street) and the Northumberland Mall Parking Lot (1111 Elgin Street West) to designated Waterfront Festival locations surrounding Victoria Park and Rotary Harbourfront Park. “Special Event Shuttle” signage will be posted at all pick-up and drop-off locations.  

The shuttles will run continuously on Friday, July 1 and Saturday, July 2, from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday, July 3 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

On-Demand Transit

Cobourg Transit Conventional and Specialized (WHEELS) service will be running its regular hours on Friday, July 1 and through the weekend. For more information on the Cobourg Rides On-Demand Transit Service including how to book, how to pay, and how to use the service please visit the Cobourg Transit webpage or call the Engineering department at 905-372-4555.

Cobourg Transit’s Hours of Operation are:

• Monday to Friday: 6:15 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Saturday: 8:15 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.
• Sunday: 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

Due to road closures, the Albert Street Downtown Terminal will be temporarily relocated to Third Street, south of Albert Street.

• Cobourg Public Library (200 Ontario Street)
