The Town of Cobourg would like to advise all residents and guests to follow safe water practices around all bodies of water this summer.
As we enter the warm days of summer, children and families will spend more time around the beach, lake and community pool. The Town of Cobourg would like to remind all residents and guests that there are no Lifeguards on duty at Victoria Beach this summer and as always, caution individuals to follow safe water practices when around any body of water.
The Ontario Life Saving Society Water Smart Campaign encourages the following practices:
Lifeguard Towers will Remain at the Beach
The lifeguard towers at Victoria Beach will remain in place for the season. Each of the towers has public safety signage posted as well as numbers to call if emergency services support is required. The lifeguard towers are built into the Town of Cobourg’s emergency response system and each of the towers are registered for their geographic location. Therefore, having the towers in place provides an exact location for emergency response teams to locate an individual if they call from one of those four locations.
Open Swim Times at Centennial Pool
The Town of Cobourg has once again partnered with YMCA Northumberland tooperate the Centennial Pool. Open swim times are available daily with lifeguards on duty. The CentennialPool schedule can be found on the YMCA Northumberland website at https://ymcanrt.org
