Holiday Greetings from Mayor Lucas Cleveland
Christmas and the holidays are a magical time of the year where differences can be put aside, where animosities are resolved, where slights against us can be forgiven.
As Mayor of Cobourg, I have a privileged first-hand seat to experience the generosity, the kindness, and the goodwill that are the hallmarks--I would say the very foundation--of what makes Cobourg the truly amazing community that we are. Since moving to Cobourg, I knew this was a very special place, a place where friends and neighbours were there for each other in good times and in bad. Despite any differences, it did not matter, when our town was in need. We were always there together as one community.
Every day, I feel the deep and sacred honour to be raising my son in a town that has selflessness at its very core. This, to me, is never more highlighted than during the Christmas season.
The holidays are not always the happiest for us all. The vagaries of both fate and life can crash upon our proverbial shores, many times when we least expect it. To those going through difficult times, it is my sincere hope that it is either temporary or that you are at least able to find solace in the gentle acts of hope that make being a citizen of Cobourg so truly inspiring.
Please remember at this time--and at all times--to treat each other with mutual respect, to donate your resources, to volunteer at the charities of your choice, or to just be there for someone who needs you and may not know how to ask for your help.
From my family to yours, have the best Christmas and the safest and merriest of holidays.
Mayor Lucas Cleveland
