Due to extremely dry conditions and deteriorating air quality caused by ongoing wildland fires across Ontario and Manitoba, a Total Fire Ban is being implemented in Northumberland County, including the Town of Cobourg, effective immediately.
Effective August 6, 2025, and until further notice, all forms of open-air burning are strictly prohibited within the Town of Cobourg, including but not limited to:
· Backyard campfires or fire pits
· Brush and yard waste burning
· Fireworks
· Any fire not contained within a CSA-approved outdoor appliance (where permitted)
Important Information:
· The ban applies to all areas of the Town of Cobourg
· Failure to comply may result in fines and/or charges under the Ontario Fire Code and Municipal By-Laws.

What's Happening
The Town of Cobourg would like to provide an update to the community on efforts to remediate a fuel spill in the harbour.
Mayor Cleveland would like to advise residents and local business owners that applications are being accepted for the Community Led Task Force.

The Town of Cobourg wishes to alert residents to a recently issued Health Canada recall involving Electrical Devices Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) safety outlets sold at Home Hardware stores across Canada. These outlets have been recalled due to a potential fire hazard.
