(Issued April 8, 2019 at 9:20 a.m. EST) – The Town of Cobourg would like to advise citizens that the Cobourg Community Centre will be closed for the morning today due to an ammonia leak that occurred. 

Town staff were immediately alerted to the issue through the community centre’s ammonia sensor equipment and the appropriate steps were taken to isolate the issue as per proper protocol. At no time was any occupant of the building at risk. The Fire Department was called and is presently on the scene assessing the situation. The facility now remains closed until further notice.  

All morning classes have been cancelled. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and will issue an update once the facility re-opens.
